Long Beach Island, NJ Is An Island Out In The Atlantic Ocean with 18 Miles Of Beautiful Clean Sandy LBI Beaches.
You are encouraged to come to LBI in the spring to buy your Discounted Seasonal Beach Badges to save some money. Seasonal Beach Badges are available at all town halls.
You have to cross 3 bridges (The Causeway) to get onto LBI, NJ. Take Route 72 East past the Holiday Inn and go 5 more miles to the Beautiful LBI Beaches.
When you come onto LBI you are in Ship Bottom, NJ.
Turn right on Long Beach Boulevard and you will go thru Ship Bottom to Long Beach Township, Beach Haven, and Beach Haven Inlet (Holgate) at the south end of LBI. Turn left on Long Beach Boulevard and you will go thru Ship Bottom to Surf City, North Beach, Harvey Cedars, Loveladies and Barnegat Light at the north end of LBI. Also, you can reach High Bar Harbor off of Barnegat Light by way of a county road at 20th street from Viking Village.

Long Beach Island, NJ Beach Badges & Costs
When you are visiting Beautiful Long Beach Island, NJ you will need to purchase a Beach Badge to go on the beach. The Beach Badge revenue helps to pay the lifeguards and keep the beaches clean along with upkeep and maintenance. Beach Badges are required when the lifeguards are on duty from mid June to Labor Day on LBI.
Beach Badges are needed for ages 12 - 64. Seniors have a discounted rate at 65 and older in some towns, and in other towns If You Are Over 65 The Beach Badges Are Free In Most Municipalities.
Beach Badges are needed from approximately June 20 - Sept. 1.
At the 33 LBI Hotels, Motels and B & B's - Most Of The Hotels, Motels And B & B'S Give You Free Beach Badges with a refundable deposit. Some rental houses include beach badges, but many do not. Check with your real estate company or owner of the rental house when making arrangements.
LBI Has Six (6) Different Beach Badges
You can buy a beach badge at any of the 6 LBI, NJ Municipalities. Also, beach badges can be purchased from the "beach badge checker" that comes around to check that you have one. You have a choice of a daily, weekly, or seasonal beach badge. Each town has its own rate and if you purchase your seasonal beach badge before a certain date in the pre-season, you will get a discount.
* Barnegat Light - $5 Daily/ $20 Weekly/ $22 Season by June 15 After June 15 is $35 Season. Seniors 65 & older purchased in person with I.D. only $8
* Beach Haven - $5 Daily/ $15 Weekly/ $20 Season by June 28 After June 28 is $35 Season
* Harvey Cedars - $6 Daily/ $20 Weekly/ $23 Season by June 15 After June 15 is $35 Season
* Long Beach Twp - $5 Daily/ $20 Weekly/ $25 Season by June 15 After June 15 is $35 Season
* Ship Bottom - - $7 Daily/ $17 Weekly/ $25 Season by May 31 After May 31 is $35 Season
* Surf City - $8 Daily/ $17 Weekly/ $25 Season by May 31 After May 31 is $35 Season
It is very important that you know the actual town on Long Beach Island you will be staying in. There are 6 different LBI towns and 6 different LBI beach badges.
Please be sure what LBI town you are staying in Before You Buy Your Beach Badges As "Beach Badges Are Not Refundable".

Rules governing beach activities are posted at street entrances to the LBI beaches and are also available at the town halls. These rules are for the health, safety, and courtesy of ALL beachgoers.
Swimmers must stay between the flags on either side of the lifeguard stands.
Red flags - unsafe conditions, don't go in the water
Yellow flags - caution but you can go in the water
Green flags - O.K. to go in the water
NOTE: Please Follow The Rules - The Ocean Can Be Very Dangerous
Also, while on LBI - Please Don't Feed The Sea Gulls
LBI Dune Regulations
Long Beach Island, NJ is built on sand. Keeping the sand in place on LBI, especially on the dunes, is extremely important. The best defense against beach erosion and flooding from the ocean is the combination of gently sloping beaches and well established sand dunes.
These hills of sand act as a natural protection when well covered with dune grass. Dune grass roots sometimes go down 15 to 20 feet into the sand to hold the dune in position and to prevent erosion from both the wind and the ocean, but The Dune Grass Is Very Vulnerable And Can Not Tolerate Human Traffic. Stepping On The Dune Grass Will Kill The Dune Grass.
Please Follow The Rules or you won't be allowed on LBI, NJ beaches - and you may be subject to fines and penalties.
