Green Up Clean Up 2010- Celebrate Earth Day!
On April 24, 2010 the LBI Business Alliance is teaming up with Alliance for a Living Ocean to clean up the streets and beaches of LBI. The Island has been very hard hit by storms this winter and the streets and beaches are in need of a clean up more than ever! ! Look for local businesses with the Green Up Clean Up signs from 9am-12pm to volunteer. Or, just go outside of your own house and clean up around your block with your neighbors.
There will be a BBQ with live music at Just Bead It in North Beach Haven at 12:30 to thank all of our GUCU Volunteers!

Make Everyday Earth Day!
Long Beach Island is a very fragile barrier island, and even the smallest disregard can have a large impact on our ecosystem. Anything left out on the streets will end up in the ocean or the bay and harm the sea life.
Recycle bottles, cans, and newspapers. Reduce waste with a re-usable water bottle filled with filtered tap water. Don't Litter! Always pick up Pet Waste. Anglers- Don't leave fishing gear behind. Conserve Water by taking shorter showers and shutting the tap off. Conserve fuel by patronizing local businesses.
If everyone takes these small steps, together we can make a huge difference in protecting LBI for generations to come!
